Built in the UK for duty-of-care teams

Never lose anyone in the crowd.

Flock is the live group-tracking platform for UK schools, festivals, care homes and tour operators. Mesh-networked wearables, AI headcounts, off-grid coverage. Built for the moment a teacher, a tour rep or a duty manager has to answer one question: is everyone here?

4 hops, signal good
The number nobody talks about

Children go missing on UK school trips an average of twice every week — and the Department for Education holds no central data on it.

Source: FOI requests to UK police forces, 2022/23 school year.
The problem

Group safety still runs on paper and panic.

Teachers, festival stewards and care workers are accountable for groups of 20-200 people. Their tools? A clipboard, a phone in a deadzone, and a memorised face count.

90s
A missing-person report is filed every 90 seconds in the UK.
Most are found quickly — but the first 5 minutes are the difference between a non-event and a Sky News headline.
75%
Of dementia-related missing incidents happen on routine outings.
Yet care home staff still rely on visual checks and phone signal — neither of which work in a park, a coach, or a shopping centre.
£0
UK schools spend zero pounds on live tracking — because nothing fit-for-purpose exists.
Existing kit (AirTags, walkie-talkies, kid GPS watches) is consumer-grade. Roll-call apps cover paperwork, not the trip itself.
The product

One signal. Every member of the group. Even when the signal drops.

Flock is a wearable + dashboard + AI co-pilot for whoever has to bring everybody home.

Mesh-networked bands

Each Flock band talks to every other band over a 500m mesh — no SIM, no cell tower, no Wi-Fi needed. One band in the group with phone signal is enough to bring the whole map online.

AI headcount, every 60 seconds

The dashboard counts continuously. If anyone strays beyond 200m, beyond curfew, or stops moving — your lead gets the alert before they've finished their cup of tea.

Auto-generated incident logs

Every alert, every separation, every reunion — timestamped, geolocated, downloadable. Compliance teams love it. CQC inspectors love it. Insurers love it.

Pre-trip roster, post-trip report

Plug into Evolve, Arbor or your existing safeguarding stack. Bands pair to pupils in 30 seconds. After the trip, a single PDF lands with the visit coordinator. Done.

How it works

Pair. Pack. Pin. Three steps before the coach leaves.

Designed for a Year 4 TA who hasn't read the manual.

1
Pair the bands
Drop the bands on the dock, scan the trip roster from Evolve or a CSV. Each band auto-assigns to a name in under 30 seconds.
2
Pack & go
Bands run 72 hours on a charge. Waterproof. Tamper-detect. Lanyard, wristband or clip variants. No phone needed on the bearer.
3
Pin the map
Lead opens the Flock app. Live map, live headcount, live alerts. AI flags anomalies before humans notice them — and writes the incident report for you.
FAQ

Three questions a buyer asks before pilot.

Honest product detail. We'd rather be tested on this in week one than week ten.

01
When someone strays, who actually gets the alert?
Not everyone — alert fatigue kills response time. The cascade is layered: the lead's phone fires first (push + sound, named pupil), co-leads get a silent secondary notification ~10 seconds later, and ops back at base see it on the dashboard as a logged event. Parents only hear about it if the lead presses "escalate" — never automatically. Other children's bands stay silent; only the wearer who actually strayed gets a vibrate to stop walking.
02
What happens when there's no phone signal at all?
Three connectivity tiers. Primary is sub-GHz mesh between bands — 500m peer-to-peer, no SIM needed. Secondary is Bluetooth from one "gateway" band to the lead's phone for cellular relay. Tertiary is an embedded NB-IoT SIM on the gateway band itself — low-power roaming (~£0.50/month per group), pings position every 60 seconds even in true wilderness. Together that covers 99%+ of UK trips, including Snowdonia, Scottish Highlands and the Lake District.
03
Is Flock UK-compliance-certified today?
Audit-aligned, not yet certified — and that's a deliberate position at pilot stage. The product already produces every artifact a DfE, CQC or Martyn's Law audit needs: supervision logs, headcount records, incident timelines, opt-in consent. The remaining steps — DPIA, UKCA self-declaration, ICO consultation — are £15K and three months of work, all included in the pilot funding line and closed by month 3. Trip data is owned by the school or operator (clean GDPR processor/controller split), auto-purges at 90 days, and nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
